IDC Preparation Course
Candidates taking the PADI Instructor Development Course are expected to have a good knowledge of diving academics and demonstration-quality pool skills. Maybe it has been some time since your Divemaster training or you have not been active in assisting with classes. Perhaps you are just not entirely confident about your level of expertise. If either of these situations applies in your case, you should seriously consider taking the IDC Preparation Course. This one day course will alleviate those fears and will thoroughly prepare you to enter the IDC with added confidence in academics and confined water skill demonstrations.
IDC (Instructor Development Course)
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the core of the PADI Instructor training process. The goal of the program is to prepare you to function as an effective PADI Instructor by thoroughly familiarizing you with the PADI system and its entire diver training programs. You will draw upon your current skills and knowledge while learning how to conduct classroom, pool and open water teaching sessions. While successful completion of the IDC will prepare you to easily pass the Instructor Examination, this is not the focus of the course we conduct at EASE. Our program is specifically designed to arm you with the basic skills and knowledge you will need to begin your career as a scuba Instructor.
Assistant Instructor Course
The PADI Assistant Instructor course provides PADI Divemasters, and those certified to leadership levels with other diver training organizations, with additional training as instructional assistants and dive educators. This course builds upon the divemaster’s abilities to organize and supervise dive activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practical application, candidates learn to construct effective teaching presentations and conduct PADI programs.
OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor Course)
The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course is a 4-day course designed to prepare qualified candidates to become PADI Instructors. This course is scheduled during the last 4 days of our Instructor Development Course (IDC.) Either the OWSI course or the entire IDC must be completed before attending the PADI Instructor Examination (IE.) Scuba instructors certified by other organizations may cross over to PADI by successfully completing the OWSI course and the IE. Combining the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the OWSI course into a continuous program makes up the entire IDC.
IDC Staff Instructor Course
As an Instructor Development Course (IDC) Staff Instructor, you help bring up the next generation of PADI Instructors while gaining in-depth instructor-trainer knowledge.
IDC Staff Instructors present topics during the PADI Instructor Development Course. Because IDC Staff Instructors are an integral part of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), you set the stage for moving on to PADI Course Director as you present topics in the IDC and help shape PADI Divemasters and Assistant Instructors into PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors
Many of dive center or resort management positions require this level of Instructor experience and training, making this an important step if you are considering a career in Dive Center or you want to open a dive shop or resort.
